I got a bird feeder a while ago. It's nice to see the birds come and go. I get blue jays, finches, quails, and other sorts. The first time I put it out, it took almost 3 weeks for all the seeds to get eaten. Now, all the birds know and it takes two to three days. I feed them black oil sun flower seeds.

Garden Veggies
For weeks I didn't know what this was because I couldn't match it with any of the seeds I bought. I later googled butternut squash and it was a match. It grows light green and gets tanned color later. Looks like I'll be getting lots of these.
This is broccoli that I didn't harvest because I wanted to save the seeds. It's funny because the seeds come out of the bottom instead of a long shoot like the rest of my veggies.B-b-b-b-beans
My first yellow tomatoes.
My first red tomatoes.
I got cucumbers coming. These things are spiky when they are little.
Zucchinis
Snap peas. I like to wait till the peas get plump. Then I open them up with Leo and we eat them raw together. He loves peas.Monday, April 29, 2013
Lion Cake
I made a lion cake. I wanted it to be bright orange, but I ran out of red. I also wanted to use chocolate for the face, but I just used more frosting because that was the easier thing on hand.
It's a white cake with raspberry filling and butter cream frosting. It tasted fine, but I believe I over mixed the batter since it wasn't so fluffy. I will get better at cake making and cake decorating.

My Own Veggie Garden
I finally have my own raised vegetable garden. We are using the square foot gardening method as a guide. We went on a splurge and bought more than 60 different types of seeds including 7 tomato varieties and lots of Asian vegetables, some I never had before.
This is one of three beds. My beans are dying and the watermelons are dead too, but everything else looks pretty good. I have a couple of deer that live on the other side of the house behind heavy brush. I'm afraid they will eat my vegetables.
